The Phil is thrilled to welcome for the first time, MacArthur Fellowship “Genius” Grant recipient and piano master, Stephen Hough. A resident of London, Mr. Hough has been described as “a virtuoso who begins where others leave off” (Washington Post
Widely regarded as one of the most important pianists of this generation, he has appeared with most of the major European and American orchestras including London and New York Philharmonic and has been a guest at festivals such as Salzburg, Tanglewood, Hollywood Bowl, Edinburgh and the BBC Proms, where he has made over 20 appearances.
With conductor Daniel Hege at the helm, the evening’s program will include works by Stravinsky and Haydn as well as Hough commanding Brahms Piano Concert No. 1.
