Wednesday, February 27: Caravaggio, Radical Realist
Vigorous physical realism and radical, spiritually expressive
contrasts of light and dark characterize many of Caravaggio’s

taste of Rome at the outset of 17th century. By the sheer force
of his genius and intransigent personality he significantly
changed that paradigm in his short life.
