Painting Women, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
ERICA HIRSHLER, Ph.D. is Croll Senior Curator of American Paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a post she has held since 2001. She has published extensively on John Singer Sargent, Dennis Bunker and on women artists and collectors. She has lectured at museums and other cultural institutions across the United States and abroad. Her most recent book is the critically acclaimed and highly praised Sargent’s Daughters: The Biography of a Painting.
The museum will remain open after Hirshler’s 6 p.m. lecture for you to view the exhibition Painting Women.

More than 80 works from the MFA’s permanent collection explore the role of women in art in the exhibition Painting Women. These paintings by and about women include works by Mary Cassatt, Georgia O’Keeffe, Lilla Cabot Perry, Helen Torr, Edgar Degas, Gretchen Woodman Rogers and many others.
